Both these costumes/props are entirely handsewn I am so proud.

HOLD MY FEELINGS I’m sure I enjoyed it much more than a 17-year-old girl should. 

I watched it here. It wasn’t actually that hard to find considering any non-mainstream movies usually take at least two hours digging around on the internet to turn up. This was the second search result on Google whooooooo.

I never even watched Generator Rex and I still liked it. I wish it had focused a bit more on Ben and his world but that’s probably just because I grew up more with that series.

Though if it was reversed and it was Rex that had dimension-hopped into Ben’s world I think I wouldn’t have been so into it because I’d already know all the characters and the centre of attention would be some guy I never had any interest in. 

They could have stood to make it at least twice the length, though. I think all the interactions outside the fighting were pretty rushed, and it would have been cool to see the reactions to the aftermath in Ben’s world as well as everything in Rex’s. I mean we only saw (a picture of) Gwen, Kevin and Max Tennyson once in the entire thing what. Though, if they’re planning a sequel at any point I can see why they would leave a lot of possible scenes and trivia out.

I’m not entirely sure about my feels on how Ben was drawn in the Generator Rex style. There was something really weird about his chin. I think maybe he looked too mature or his face was too long but all in all he didn’t really end up looking like Ben and more like an awkward fanboy. 

I loved Rex’s Upgrade suit though. That was really clever and they could work as a complete duo and mix their powers and everything and yes please that was good.

I also loved watching the abrasiveness between the two characters. I think I was expecting them to hit it off immediately and be best bros forever because they’re two of the most popular heroic characters, but the immediate punching-each-other-in-the-face was as much fun as it was unexpected. Then Ben just casually chilling back at Providence Labs pretending they’d imprisoned him effectively.

There were lots of one-liners and little moments of gold that I really liked. And Ben showing he was more or less completely useless without the Ultimatrix was a good touch too.

“My partner is in a coma. If you’re stressing over a frozen drink, you are totally getting punk-busted!”

I think after FusionFall and that whole Ben 10/Generator Rex crossover I’m interested to see what stylising other classic characters would be like.

I finished my God Tier John costume just in time! Everything but the plain shirt, shoes and glasses was made from scratch.

This was my first time designing a shirt with heat reactive webbing (I bought the wrong sort of fixative for a print because I trusted my mother to know what she was picking up for me oh noooo), but the breath design came out gloriously, and I think even better than it would have done if I’d printed it. The Dave of our group helped me because she is wonderful and stuff.

The hood and trousers are hand-sewn from scratch and these mark the most complicated costume pieces I’ve ever made. Knowing I have the ability to construct wearable trousers from patterns now is seriously going to change my sewing life.

EVERYTHING HAS OPENED UP.

The convention is at the end of this month so I’ll get some proper photos with the planned Homestuck group.

My Adventure Time OC, “Boy”.

I’m busy submitting his story to fyeahsuereview to make sure he’s not some abombination that should be killed with fire. This post is pretty much just to show what he looks like.
Also I know this is way too unsettling an OC to ever be considered for canon, but I think, considering the backstory of radiation wiping all life off the face of the planet, it’s a very likely character to have existed at some point.

The basis is that he’s a human boy living in the direct aftermath of the Mushroom War, in one of the underground cities where humans are still common (no kawaii desu human in modern Ooo even after it’s been specified more than once that Finn and Susan are the last humans, which I’ve seen so often among Adventure Time OCs and auuugh why do people think that’s even a good idea).

He ventures outside one day through an old entry hatch abandoned after the humans escaped underground from the nuclear fallout, and gets his first glimpse of the sun. He was born in the underground civilisation so people have heard tell of the sun and surface world, but very few people if anyone at all have ever seen it for themselves.

The short time exposed to the surface was enough to make him develop radiation sickness shortly after - the remaining radiation blanketing the Earth from the nuclear fallout still too harsh to allow any life. His body deteriorated (and not in a kawaii desu “you-still-look-pretty” way, in a “dude-you-look-like-you-went-through-chemo” way), but he didn’t regret seeing the surface world for a moment.

Boy carries a video camera with him to film every exploration in the caverns, and was able to capture a short glimpse of the world above ground with it. The video was kept and treasured by the humans for a long time until the species gradually mutated into aquatic Hyoomans, long after Boy was gone.

If it isn’t too Sue/Stu-ish, Finn and Jake would find the VHS tapes of everything Boy recorded and watch them through - to no real life-changing experience, but for Finn to see more about how humans really lived hundreds of years before. They never learn the name of the boy who made the videos, hence the character being known as just “Boy”. The videos finish with Boy talking in his hospital bed, and it isn’t clarified specifically whether he recovers later or not.

Boy has the typical young man’s desire to adventure and discover, and this along with his appearence is specifically tailored for Finn to feel a connection to him which continues through to feeling a deeper connection to his entire species. The fact that Boy’s name is never known I think makes him less of an “OMG FINN IS CONNECTED TO MY OC <3 <3” Stu and more of a simple connection to the human species that isn’t an actor in one of the hundreds of ancient movies Finn and Jake dig up.

Bonus points if Boy ever mentions Heat Signature being his favourite movie in one of his videos, and Finn is like “OH OH JAKE I KNOW THAT ONE OHHHHH.”
